Tactician and Team Lead |

“They are considered the right hand man of the skipper. They thrive on pressure, instant decisions and must always be trying to out-guess their opponent many maneuvers ahead. Their world is a constant game of risk versus gain, rulebook interpretations and human emotions all during the most heated battle conditions. Yet, despite being surrounded by the best scientific, meteorological and boat analysis data, their calls can come down to a seat of the pants decision based on their own sailing instinct. They can be right or very, very wrong, but they must always remain cool, keeping their head in the match. They are the tacticians.”

I am a tactician who enjoys crewing on Offshore One-Designs, Sportboats, Light and Heavy Keelboats, and High-Performance Dinghies.
I am searching for a racing environment that provides a high level of competition with skilled and seriously motivated individuals. This will allow me to continue to learn and advance my experience and level of competition in the world of more performance-oriented, grand-prix style racing. You can’t get better if you don’t race with and against people who are better than you.
I am always on the lookout for a boat in a highly competitive class or fleet and for a skipper and crew where the concepts of dedication and teamwork are taken seriously.
I cannot emphasize strongly enough how important dedication, commitment, and loyalty are to me. I am totally committed to the boat I crew on and will exert every effort to ensure that the goals of the program are met. Likewise, I expect the same commitment from the skipper to me as a crew member.
For my “big boat” racing, I am particularly interested in opportunities to crew on a J/24, Melges 24, J/80, Mumm 30, J/105, Farr 36, or Farr 40. However, any offshore one-design, IRC racer, or high-performance PHRF boat is fine.
For my “small boat” racing, I am interested in crewing on an Etchells, Sonar, Lightning, or other high-performance one-design or dinghy.
When the sailing bug bit me, it bit me hard. Aside from family and work, it's all I spend my time doing. If I can't get on the water for some reason, I hit the computer simulators to sharpen my tactical skills, especially in the winter.
If you want a REAL tactician, then I'm the person you're looking for. You won't find a more dedicated crew member than me if you're really serious about racing. |
